Over the years, a number of interest groups have been formed, to give members the opportunity to get to know one another better, and to share an activity they love. The groups are fluid and change as demand requires. To join one of these groups, come to one of our monthly meetings or send us an e-mail.

The interest groups that currently exist are:

Cycling/hiking/snowshoeing: Most Sundays, the group sets off on foot, on bikes or on snowshoes (depending on the season), at about 10:30. Outings last two to three hours. You don't have to be a pro; all levels are welcome. Most of the trips also include lunch, perhaps a stop at a favourite eating place.
Dining/entertainment: Members of this group take turns organizing a get together at a local restaurant or entertainment venue. The organizer speaks to the owner to ensure space is available and then lets group members know about the place, time and cost. Members then make their own reservations and pay directly. This is a great way for singles and couples to get to know one another
Dining-in/gourmet: If you enjoy cooking and like to experiment with different foods, you will enjoy this group. Dinners take place about once a month. Those attending (couples and singles) prepare a dish that will complement the meal's theme, and at dinner ensure it is ready to be presented at the right time to fit into the meal. Members also bring wine, or a beverage of their choice.
Book club: This club meets monthly at members' homes, to discuss the book of the month.
Shopping: When you are new to an area you may not know where to find that special item, or the shops themselves! Shopping trips to Halifax, or other neigbouring communities, can be more fun, and better for the environment, if we do it together.
Creative writing: This group meets monthly at members' homes. The aim is to provide a forum for members to share their writing, and to get feedback.
Wine tasting: This group meets monthly at members' homes. The host chooses a wine theme and the others contribute a bottle. What better way to taste a selection of different wines, and learn more about them.
Art gallery visits: The organizer of this group advises members when there is a gallery opening, and everyone meets at the gallery at an agreed-upon time.
Habitat for Humanity: The town of Wolfville has donated a parcel of land on Maple Avenue to Habitat for Humanity, Annapolis Valley Project. Be part of Habitat's first building project in this town. If all goes as hoped, construction will begin in the summer of 2010.
